Where we’re spending our Hyatt free night certificates

October 8, 2024 By Nancy 3 Comments

My husband and I both have the Chase World of Hyatt credit card. We keep these cards year after year because one of the perks is a yearly free stay at a Category 1-4 hotel. The card’s annual fee is $95, so essentially that’s what we’re paying for this “free” hotel night.

In the past, we’ve used our free night certificates to stay at some outstanding properties, including Hyatt Centric Murano Venice,  Hyatt Regency Miami, and The Confidante Miami Beach (no longer eligible). This year, our choice is a practical one.

In a few months, we’re cruising out of Miami on Icon of the Seas. We will be flying to Miami the night before our cruise, and we need two rooms for my family of five. Since we will be flying in at night and heading to the cruise port the next morning, convenience is a top priority.

So, we’re using our free night certificates for two rooms at Hyatt House Miami Airport. It has slightly higher reviews than two nearby Hyatt Place locations. And, it has a free airport shuttle and free breakfast.

No, it’s not an aspirational property. But, the cash cost per room during spring break is $371.92. Not a bad deal for a $95 credit card fee.

By the way, the Chase World of Hyatt credit card currently has a welcome bonus of 5 free nights (see this post).

World of Hyatt credit card holders, where are you spending your next free night certificates?

I stayed at both Hyatt Places near the airport some years ago for a mattress run. They were decent enough but there wasn’t anything to do or places to eat nearby. I’d be interested to hear about the Hyatt House. Out of curiosity, why not stay at the Hyatt Regency downtown, since it’s close to Dodge Island and there’s lots of dining options within walking distance?

I’ve been using mine locally usually a night in Chicago or suburbs since I don’t live too far. Last stay was a pet friendly Hyatt House my 2 pups enjoyed getting out of the house! The Confidante was a great redemption stayed there in 2021 had a good time.
