This week, several credit cards have increased welcome bonuses. Yippee! Signing up for new credit cards when the welcome bonuses are high is the easiest way to earn big chunks of miles and points for free travel. If you’re new to miles and points travel, see my Beginner’s Guide: 7 Steps to Free Travel with Miles and Points.
Chase British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus Cards
All 3 of the Avios-earning credit cards from Chase currently have elevated bonuses. The cards are British Airways Visa Signature Card, Iberia Visa Signature Card, and Aer Lingus Visa Signature card.
Earn 85,000 bonus Avios after spending $5000 in the first 3 months.100,000 bonus Avios after spending $7500 in the first 6 months. See non-affiliate links on Doctor of Credit.- $95 annual fee not waived
The previous bonus was 75,000 Avios. The bonus has been higher in the past, but has required more spending to get the bonus.
My husband applied for and got the Iberia card earlier this year. I will likely apply for that card soon. We’ve both had British Airways cards before. Avios are handy because you can transfer them to other airlines within the Avios program (including British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia, Qatar and Finnair). Avios are helpful to book award flights on other partner airlines, like Japan Airlines.
Unfortunately, we don’t have direct affiliate links for these cards. However, if you’d like to support this blog, you can get the Travel Freely app (our affiliate link) and apply for the cards within the app.
American Express Delta Cards
The Delta Airlines personal cards and business cards have increased welcome offers. These are affiliate links, and we get a commission if you apply and are approved through our links. Limited time offers end 10/23/24.
The two cards I’m most excited about (because of waived annual fees the first year):
Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card: 80,000 bonus miles after spending $3000 in the first 6 months. $150 annual fee is waived the first year.
Delta SkyMiles Gold Business American Express Card: 90,000 bonus miles after spending $6000 in the first 6 months. $150 annual fee is waived the first year.
As a cardholder, you get a 15% price reduction on Delta award flights. Delta miles can be very useful depending on your home airport.
Barclays Lufthansa Miles and More Card
My husband and I both got the Barclays Lufthansa Miles and More card last year when the bonus was 100,000 miles. The current bonus is now 80,000 miles, so not the highest but higher than it was before (50k).
Barclays Lufthansa Miles and More card (non-affiliate link): Earn 80,000 bonus miles after spending $3000 on purchases in the first 90 days and paying the annual fee of $89.
We used a chunk of our Lufthansa miles to book me and my daughter on partner Asiana Airlines in business class home from Hong Kong (see this post).
Barclays Wyndham Rewards Cards
Three Wyndham Rewards credit cards have higher bonuses right now (although not the highest we’ve seen). Wyndham has over 9000 hotels worldwide.
Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus Card (non-affiliate link): Earn 75,000 bonus points after spending $2000 in the first 180 days. Those points can be used for up to 10 free hotel nights. Annual fee is $75, which includes 7500 points on your card anniversary.
Wyndham Rewards Earner Card (non-affiliate link): Earn 45,000 bonus points after spending $2000 on purchases in the first 180 days. Those points can be used for up to 6 free hotel nights. This card has no annual fee.
Wyndham Earner Business Card (non-affiliate link): Earn up to 80,000 bonus points. Earn 40,000 points after spending $4000 in the first 90 days. Earn an additional 40,000 points after spending a total of $15,000 within the first 12 months. Annual fee is $95. Receive 15,000 points on your card anniversary.
Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card
We saw this deal earlier this year, and it’s back through 10/16/24.
Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card (affiliate link): Get 5 free hotel nights (up to 50,000 points each) after spending $8000 in the first 6 months. The card has an annual fee of $125. Unlike points, the free nights expire after 12 months.
Chase IHG Cards
Chase has some different offers on IHG One Rewards Premier Card (5 free nights) and the IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card (up to 200k points). These non-affiliate links are better than our personal referral links. IHG has 19 hotel brands and over 6000 locations. See this post on Frequent Miler for all the details.
Overall Thoughts
With holiday spending just around the corner, now is a good time to open a new credit card to earn a chunk of bonus points. See this post for bank application rules and restrictions.
Are you applying for any of these cards to beef up your miles and points stash?

I sure wish Chase would offer business versions of the avios-earning cards! It’s so hard to stay under 5/24!

@Chelsea I agree!
