One of the best ways to maximize free travel with miles and points is to transfer flexible points when there is a transfer bonus. This month, there are a few transfer bonuses that continue into July, and hopefully more will be announced.
New: Citi 25% Transfer Bonus to Flying Blue
From now through August 17, 2024, get a 25% transfer bonus from Citi to Air France/KLM Flying Blue. I’ve used Flying Blue miles to book flights to and from Europe in business and economy classes over the last few years.
New: Citi 20% Transfer Bonus to Wyndham
From now through August 17, 2024, get a 20% transfer bonus from Citi to Wyndham Rewards.
Chase 20% Bonus to Air Canada Aeroplan (up to 30% for cardholders!)
Chase has a 20% transfer bonus to Air Canada Aeroplan through July 31, 2024. This is stackable with the extra 10% bonus for Chase Aeroplan cardholders for transfers of 50,000 or more. Aeroplan is part of the Star Alliance and also partners with 27 non-alliance partners. Last year, I used Aeroplan miles to book business class seats on TAP Air Portugal for 60k miles each.
Chase 80% Bonus to IHG
Chase has an 80% transfer bonus to IHG through 7/31/24. While this sounds great on paper, the reality is that you can usually buy IHG points for less money. I don’t recommend this transfer unless you only need to top off your account for a small amount of points to book an award.
(Expired) Citi 15% Bonus to Cathay Pacific
Citi is offering a 15% transfer bonus to Cathay Pacific through July 20, 2024. Cathay Pacific is part of the Oneworld airline alliance and opens up bookings 360 days in advance. Since this window opens sooner than American Airlines, using Cathay Pacific miles is a way to snag business class seats on partner Japan Airlines before they become available to people using AA miles.
(Expired) Bilt Up to 100% Transfer Bonus to Alaska Airlines
Leana wrote about this Rent Day promotion last week. For one day only, July 1, you can get up to 100% transfer bonus when transferring Bilt Rewards points to Alaska Airlines. Transfer a maximum of 50,000 points. Regular Bilt members will get a 25% transfer bonus, Silver status gets 50% bonus, Gold status get 75% bonus and Platinum status gets 100% bonus.
My husband has Bilt gold status, and he will absolutely be transferring the maximum 50,000 points to get 87,500 Alaska Airlines miles. Alaska miles can be redeemed not only on Alaska Airlines, but also on its 25 partner airlines. The timing is perfect for us because we are about to book return tickets from Japan to the USA for a trip next year. The extra miles we get from this transfer (37,500 bonus miles) will cover one economy ticket from Japan to USA on partner Japan Airlines.
