On my recent European vacation, my daughter and I spent two nights at DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station. I booked our room last year for 60,000 Hilton Honors points a night (see this post). I picked this hotel because of its location next door to Amsterdam’s Centraal Station, as we would be arriving to and departing from the city by train.
Arrival at DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station
We arrived at the train station in the morning and walked to the hotel. It wasn’t hard to find the hotel since it’s visible from the station.
The front of the hotel faces a large canal:

At check-in, the desk agent told us that we would get free breakfast in the restaurant due to my Hilton Honors gold status, which I get from having the Amex Hilton Honors Business Card (affiliate link). The agent also asked if it was too early to offer us the signature DoubleTree warm chocolate chip cookies. I replied: “It’s never too early for cookies.”
Our room wasn’t ready yet, so we stored our luggage and set off to enjoy Amsterdam.
Twin Room
Our room had two twin beds and faced the train tracks.
The room had a table with two chairs and a large TV.

The room was large (for European standards) and quiet. The beds were comfortable, and we had no trouble sleeping.
Dining
My Amex Hilton Honors Business Card comes with a quarterly statement credit of $60 to spend at Hilton hotels. So, I made a reservation at the onsite dinner restaurant on the ground floor, Eastwood Beer and Grill. We loved our view of the canal and the people walking by.
Dessert was awesome!
The same restaurant converts to the breakfast buffet in the morning (which was free for us due to Hilton gold status).
The breakfast buffet had just about every breakfast food we could dream up. Hot, cold, you name it.
Note: The hotel is currently renovating the ground floor, and the restaurant is closed through mid October.
Other Hotel Amenities
DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station has a few other amenities we didn’t try, like a rooftop bar and a fitness center. I had no time to check them out because we were busy exploring Amsterdam.
Overall Thoughts
We had a great stay at this hotel. The location was very convenient to the train station, but it was also easy to get to other parts of the city and was within walking distance of sites and restaurants. I’m glad we were able to stay for free using points!

Any thoughts on the Doubletree versus the Hyatt? I have status with both and need 4 rooms for a couple of nights for my wife and I plus family.

@Christian I’ve never stayed at either of the Hyatts in Amsterdam, but I don’t think you can go wrong with Hyatt or this DoubleTree. Hyatt Regency is a bit farther from some sites, but I found Amsterdam easy to get around.

We stayed there for two nights last week! We had two rooms but they upgraded us to a connecting family room with a view of the canal. My favorite part was people watching – especially on Saturday afternoon and evening when there were a ton of people doing bachelor/bachelorette parties on the boast from the dock. We also really enjoyed the free breakfast buffet for Diamonds as well as the executive lounge which filled in for a light dinner before going out to explore the city. Great location!

@parents Glad you enjoyed the hotel!

One of my close friends just stayed there, too, while in town for Taylor Swift! Glad you enjoyed it – thanks for sharing!
Nancy says
@Taylor I wish we would have been able to see a Taylor Swift concert while we were in Europe!

Thanks. I’ve been intrigued about this hotel since it opened. Thought it would be convenient. Otherwise we’ve stayed on the small canals

@Bill in DC It’s a great option if you’ve got Hilton points to burn.
