News Roundup–what did I miss while I was traveling?

May 27, 2024 By Nancy 2 Comments

I was mostly offline last week enjoying the jungle and the beach, and I’m catching up on some news stories. Here’s a recap:

Southwest Airlines Now Showing Up on Google Flights: This is huge news! I frequently use Google Flights to compare airline prices and see routes. Now for the first time, Southwest Airlines and its flight prices are showing up! See this post on Thrifty Traveler.

Bilt Announces Exact End Date for AA Partnership: We learned a few months ago that Bilt would end its partnership with AA in June. Now, we know the exact date is June 24, 2024.

Virgin Atlantic Devalues ANA Premium Cabin Awards (Again): See this post on Award Wallet. It’s still a good deal if you can find the availability (which I never can).

Virgin Red/Synchrony to Launch new Credit Card: See this press release. The new card is expected to roll out the second half of 2024. Another opportunity to earn points is always exciting!

Citi 50% Transfer Bonus to Turkish Airlines: Citi has a 50% transfer bonus to Turkish Airlines through June 15, 2024. See this post on Frequent Miler for all the details. I’ve updated the May 2024 Transfer Bonuses post to reflect this addition.

Iberia Joins TSA PreCheck: This news is a few months old, but somehow I missed it. Iberia finally joined TSA PreCheck! I’m happy about this because back in March when we flew Iberia we had to go through the regular line. I’m flying Iberia again next week, and now I can go through the shorter line. Thanks to reader Peter for giving me the heads up.

Enjoy the holiday!

yes, I flew Iberia in April and they did not offer TSA – so this must be new?
