Join Waitlist for new Qatar Credit Card to Earn Additional Avios

I saw this post on View from the Wing, and I think it’s news worth sharing.

Qatar Airways just announced it will be launching 2 new credit cards through Cardless. If you sign up on the wait list, you’re eligible to receive an extra 5000 or 10,000 bonus Avios on top of whatever the welcome bonus will be. These new cards are expected to launch in early May, and you will have 30 days from launch to apply for for the cards for the extra bonus miles.

The additional bonus miles:

5000 bonus Avios (on top of welcome bonus) for the Visa Signature Qatar co-branded card
10,000 bonus Avios (on top of welcome bonus) for the Visa Infinite Qatar co-branded card

We do not yet know information about the welcome bonuses, annual fees, and card benefits.

Qatar miles are actually Avios, and you can transfer them between British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus. This currency is valuable for booking flights on American Airlines, Japan Airlines and more.

Final Thoughts

It’s nice to see a new card launch that is not with the typical banks like Chase and Citi. These cards will probably not be best for newbies to this hobby, but rather for folks who have had many credit cards already and are hungry for more miles and points.

I already signed up to be on the wait list. Even though I may not apply for the credit card, there is really no reason not to get not the list for potentially more miles. I actually did this last year for the TAP Air Portugal card through Cardless, and I was approved with the additional miles.
