This is a continuation of my Portugal trip report. See Back from Portugal! Some Thoughts, Review: TAP Air Portugal Business Class ORD to LIS, Review: Iberia Premium Economy MAD to DFW, 48 hours in Lisbon
I usually turn to hotel points for 1- or 2-night stays. However, for our recent trip to Portugal, I couldn’t find availability at my desired Hilton hotel. And, the Hyatt hotel was not in my ideal location. So, I decided to splurge and pay cash for a more convenient hotel. My family stayed at My Story Hotel Augusta. We booked two double rooms at a price of 149 Euros including taxes and breakfast.
Location and Checking In
As I mentioned in my earlier post about Lisbon, My Story Hotel Augusta is located on Augusta Street right in the heart of the city. It’s surrounded by pedestrian-only streets, shops and cafes.
There is another My Story hotel across the street, and we actually walked into that hotel first. But no worries, the staff directed us to the correct hotel.
My Story Hotel Augusta is a small boutique hotel with just 46 rooms. The building was constructed in 1755 after the earthquake. The check-in desk is actually behind the bar of the restaurant.
The staff spoke English. I was happy that our room was already available, even though we arrived early around noon. The elevator was actually slightly bigger than most European elevators (which are normally very tiny).
Our Rooms
We had two double rooms. The rooms were basic, yet functional. The beds were a bit firm.
There was a small desk with coffee maker and a large TV:
I could barely reach the closet hangers next to my bed:
The bathroom:
But of course the best part about the room was our view!
It was so entertaining to lean out my window and watch the pedestrians and the street performers below.
Breakfast
My Story Hotel Augusta had a good assortment of breakfast foods. Each morning, there were hot foods like eggs, beans (for the UK travelers), bacon, etc.:
Plus a good assortment of cheeses, meats, yogurt, breads and pastries:
And a pancake machine:
None of us had any complaints about breakfast!
Final Thoughts
My Story Hotel Augusta is in a great location for exploring Lisbon. With so many cafes and shops right outside the door and the Santa Justa Lift just a few blocks away, the location is really hard to beat. I would stay here again for future trips to Lisbon.

Location is good. Rooms are too tiny for my taste. And for ~$160/nt. I would try to find a better option, even B&B. I stayed 2 nights at Holiday Inn and it was a pleasant experience, with a really vast breakfast buffet (all kind of pastries) included, plus a vine tasting in the bar (for Platinum Elite IHG status). The beds at HI were much softer compared to AirBnB we stayed at Sintra.

@Aleks Thanks for the recommendation.
