Miles and Points news from this week:
American Airlines Will No Longer Award Miles On Most Third Party Bookings Starting In May: This is the biggest news story of the week. In addition to raising prices on checked luggage, American Airlines will now only award miles if you book through them directly or through preferred travel agencies. See this post on View From the Wing. My biggest question is if we can earn AA miles by using our Capital One Venture X travel credit for flights booked trough the Capital One travel portal. We likely won’t know until April.
Major Etihad Guest Changes Coming in June 2024: I’ve never used the Etihad Guest program for flight awards, but I know it’s popular in the miles and points community. While some award prices will be going down, miles will be expiring sooner and cancellation penalties for award flights are increasing. See this post on One Mile at a Time.
Virtual Hyatt Timeshare Offer, Get Up To 15,000 Points: From Travel on Points, earn 15,000 Hyatt points for sitting through a virtual Hyatt timeshare presentation. Only residents of certain states are eligible.
Earn 5000 AA miles through Bask Bank Account: My husband and I each have these savings accounts through Bask Bank to earn AA miles. Through Feb 29, you can get 5000 bonus miles. See this post on Award Wallet.
New Hyatt Bonus Journeys Promotion: See this post on Miles to Memories. I always recommend registering for these promotions in case your travel plans line up.
Enjoy your weekend!
