Love is blind, Buying group deal gone wrong and more

October 6, 2023 By Nancy 6 Comments

Love is Blind Contestants Need to Learn to collect points: Is anyone watching Love Is Blind Season 5 on Netflix right now? It’s not the type of show I usually watch, but for some reason I find it very entertaining. In case you haven’t heard of it, the premise is that people “date” in pods where they can hear each other but not see each other. Couples get engaged site unseen and have 4 weeks after the reveal to decide if they want to get married or not.

Anyway, during a visit with family, one father was talking to his potential future son-in-law about being able to provide for his daughter, who likes to travel. The father says, “Love is blind. I get that. But sometimes love wants to fly first class.” And of course, I couldn’t help but think how this hobby of ours could benefit this couple and potentially reduce the tension over financing fancy vacations. Just a few weeks ago I posted about how my husband and I are going on an anniversary trip next year in first class for just 12k points thanks to using BA Avios to book an AA flight with the help of a transfer bonus. These folks need to apply for a new credit card or two and start traveling on the cheap!

A Buying Group Deal Gone Wrong: I haven’t done any reselling with buying groups, but I know many hobbyists do as a way to qualify for a small business card and earn more miles and points through credit card purchases. This is an interesting post on Frequent Miler that details a deal that didn’t go so well.

Save with Limited-Time Disneyland Kids Pricing: Tickets are as low as $50 for kids between January 8 and March 10, 2024. See this post on Upgraded Points.

The Move Loved and Hated Airlines in Every Country: I love looking at statistics, so this article on Your Mileage May Vary is so interesting to me!

Enjoy your weekend!

@Charles Sure! We booked first class seats from DFW to Albuquerque, New Mexico on an AA flight, but instead of 26k AA miles per seat we booked it with British Airways Avios, which only charges 15k for that flight in first class plus we took advantage of the Chase to Avios 30% transfer bonus that was going on at the time. Here is my post about it: https://milesforfamily.com/2023/09/11/treating-ourselves-to-domestic-first-class-flight-with-the-help-of-30-transfer-bonus/

Traveling should be something discussed early in a relationship as minor as it sounds it can later cause disagreements. Whether it’s one person scared to fly or not wanting to spend money on travel not everyone is passionate about it.
