I love it when credit cards offer transfer bonuses to airline and hotel partners. I’m not always able to use the transfer bonuses before they expire. But when I do, it’s cause to celebrate!

New 30% Transfer bonus to British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus

Chase just announced a 30% transfer bonus to British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus Avios from now through September 22, 2023. These three airlines all share Avios “miles”. You can accumulate Chase Ultimate Rewards points with many Chase credit cards including Chase Sapphire Preferred card and the Chase Ink Business Preferred card.

I frequently transfer points to British Airways Avios to book nonstop flights on American Airlines. I’ve also used BA and Iberia Avios to book long-haul flights on Iberia between Dallas and Madrid.

For example, during off-peak dates, it normally costs 21,250 Avios to fly nonstop from DFW to Madrid. With this transfer bonus, you would only need to transfer 17,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points (since you can only transfer in increments of 1000) to get enough Avios to book that flight. And that’s a great deal!

I have some shorter domestic flights I’m looking to book, so I hope to utilize this transfer bonus before it expires. I do not recommend transferring points unless you see the exact award availability you need.
