I recently earned a Hilton free night certificate from my Hilton Honors American Express Business Card. Now comes the fun part: where to spend it!?!?!
What I love about this Hilton free night is that it doesn’t have many restrictions. While there are a handful of properties where you can’t use the free night certificate, the majority of Hilton properties are available to use. And, some of these Hilton properties cost a pretty penny on cash rates, so the certificate can provide great value.
Since I already have several trips planned in the next year, I wanted to spend this free night at a place where I’m already going as opposed to creating a new trip just for this purpose. Based on my itineraries, I looked for properties in Galveston, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Lisbon, Madrid and Amsterdam.
It didn’t take me long to pick the place: Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach.
My son and I will have one night in Fort Lauderdale before a cruise (one of the free cruises I earned from status matching). This hotel is right on the beach. With the certificate, I was able to book a Junior Suite with partial ocean view. On the night we need, this room costs 95,000 Hilton Honors points or almost $1000 cash! (Our stay is during a holiday week).
I would never spend this much money on a room for a place to crash before a cruise. But since I had this free night certificate, why not?
Welcome offer for Hilton Honors American Express Business Card
Right now, the welcome bonus on the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card is 150,000 Hilton Honors plus a free night certificate after spending $4000 in the first three months. This limited time welcome offers ends July 19, 2023. The card has a $95 annual fee.
The card comes with Hilton Honors Gold Status, which has a few perks like free breakfast, free bottled water, and 5th night free on reward stays. It earns 12X on Hilton spending and 6X at gas stations, US shipping, wireless phone service, flights booked with Amex travel and US restaurants.
With the welcome bonus points and free night certificate, it’s easy to get four free nights from this offer for a net cost of the $95 fee. And that’s not too shabby!

Nice job! My record was scoring an upgraded room at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach in SoCal that would have been $1100 in April.
