Starting today, June 15, 2023 and lasting through July 31, 2023, Chase has a 20% transfer bonus to Aeroplan Air Canada. This offer is stackable with the Aeroplan cardholder transfer bonus of 10% on transfers over 50,000 or more points. So, Aeroplan cardholders can potentially receive a 30% bonus on transfers from Chase to Aeroplan Air Canada. That’s pretty good!
Aeroplan Air Canada miles are particularly useful with partner awards. In 2019, I used Aeroplan miles to fly on United from New Zealand to the U.S. Recently, I used Aeroplan miles to book two business-class seats to Lisbon, Portugal on TAP Air Portugal for a trip next spring.
I don’t ever recommend transferring points speculatively. You never know how award availability and prices will change. If you see an award flight you can book right now, then go ahead and jump on the transfer bonus. But if you don’t, I’d wait.
Let me know in the comments if you’re excited about this transfer bonus!

i was so excited to get my new aeroplan card w/ 75k bonus but now i cant find ANY rewards flights from PDX to ANYWHERE in the next year?! why is it so hard to use the points?!

@Sara That’s frustrating for sure. Are you trying for domestic or international flights? If international, you may need to search from other hubs and add on a domestic leg using another airline. I’m wondering if right now just isn’t a good time for award booking overall. I’ve been searching Flying Blue and AA for awards for next year, and they are all high. I’m hoping that after this summer’s peak travel season is over, award prices will slide back down. Maybe it’s wishful thinking.

@Sara It’s likely that the problem is the lack of award availability that United releases to its partners. Portland is not serviced by other Star Alliance members, hence all connections have to be handled by United airlines. As I’ve mentioned to you before, your best best may be just to redeem the miles towards travel expenses at 1.25 cents apiece. That’s honestly a pretty good deal, especially if you plan to fly economy. It’s unlikely that you will get a better return by redeeming miles via Aeroplan program.
