St. Kitts and Nevis: The Ultimate Twin Island Experience

This is the final installment of my trip report from my Southern Caribbean cruise. For my port stop at St. Kitts, I booked “The Ultimate Twin Island Experience” through Royal Caribbean that included sites on both St. Kitts and Nevis.

St. Kitts

Our tour van drove us from port to Wingfield Estates Sugar Plantation ruins. Our stop here was only 10 minutes, so we just had time to snap some photos.

This place was crawling with roosters…

And monkeys! But not wild monkeys. These were monkeys in diapers with handlers who were trying to make money from the tourists.

Next, we drove to Timothy Hill to see the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other side.

Then, we boarded this boat to take us to Nevis (NEEvis).

Nevis

Nevis is an adorable island. It has a volcano in the center and is just gorgeous.

We boarded this open-air taxi to see some sites on the island.

Our first stop was the childhood home of Alexander Hamilton. If you’ve seen the Hamilton musical, you might remember that the lyrics include the phrase “impoverished, in squalor”. Hmmm….I’m not sure about that! His estate included two houses and land right on the beach! My son would have loved to see this.

Next, we drove to the historic Nevis hot springs. It was HOT! I hope my quick dip in the water added some years to my life.

We drove around a bit more of the island to see the colorful houses, a church on a hill and a resort.

The boat ride back to the port at St. Kitts was so relaxing and beautiful.

Final Thoughts

St. Kitts reminded me of St. Thomas with its rolling hills. I enjoyed experiencing these two Caribbean islands. I definitely recommend hopping over to Nevis if you stop at St. Kitts.
