Last week, I received an email from Disney with an interesting offer: 30% off Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel with my Disney Visa credit card. If you’re not familiar with Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, it’s more like a cruise on land than a hotel. It’s a totally immersive experience with missions, battles and role play that also includes food, drink and some time in the Star Wars section of Hollywood Studios. The discount for Disney Visa holders is 30% off select 2-night voyages from now through September 16, 2023:
I was curious about the prices, but I had to call since you can’t book this experience online. For 2 people (1 adult and a 15-year-old teen), the prices are:
July 2: $3935.39 (most other dates are similarly priced)
September 8 (lowest priced voyage): $3399.29.
Yes, those are the 30% off prices. Normally, the lowest price is around $4800 for the least expensive date for 2 people.
When you pay with the Disney Visa, you do get 0% financing for six months.
Am I Jumping on this “Deal”?
No, I’m not booking this. My boys are Star Wars fans, but they’re not big enough fans to warrant paying for this experience. When I compare the price to a 2-day cruise, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is even more expensive than Disney Cruise Line.
But even if money were no object, my family is simply too busy to add another trip this year.
The fact that Disney is offering this discount signals that these voyages aren’t filling up at the rack rates. I’m not surprised, When the hotel first launched, a lot of influencers got to try it for free. But have they gone back and paid full price for another experience? I don’t think so.
That looks such fun! Now I really want to go there even though I am not a Star Wars fan lol
