This past weekend, my daughter and I went to the Taylor Swift concert. It was a phenomenal show. Really, the production was unbelievable. Even if you’re not a Taylor Swift super fan, I think the show’s entertainment value is still very high.
Since we live an hour (or more in traffic) away from the concert venue, staying the night in a hotel near the stadium made our entire experience easier and more enjoyable. And, we saved a bunch of money by booking a hotel room with points!
Hyatt Place Dallas/Arlington
Hyatt Place is my go-to hotel for any occasion. I love that most rooms have sofa beds to fit large families. The breakfast buffet is usually decent, the beds are comfortable, and I’ve never stayed in a bad Hyatt Place.
Before we even had tickets to the event, I reserved a room at Hyatt Place Dallas/Arlington for the night of the concert for just 8000 points. As I mentioned in a post last fall, the cash rate for this night was over $700!
By itself, this Hyatt Place location is nothing special. The outside and the inside look exactly like most other Hyatt Place locations where I’ve stayed.
But what made it ideal for the concert is the free Arlington Trolley that stops there and takes people to the concert. On event days, there are special trolleys that pick-up and drop-off just for the event. We had to make a reservation for it online in advance.
It dropped us off near the stadium and picked us up after the concert. Easy peasy! It was so nice not to have to fight the post-concert traffic. My daughter was asleep about a minute after we got back to our hotel room.
I’m going to another concert at the same venue next month with my son, and I’m probably going to fork over the points for that night, too. Staying the night reduces the stress of going to a big-name concert. And, I love that using points makes it affordable!
(To accumulate Hyatt points, check out the Chase World of Hyatt credit card or my favorite card for beginners, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. See this post for bank application rules).
