Earning Points and Cash Back from Using Turbotax

I file my taxes using TurboTax every year. I’m not here to convince you to use TurboTax. But if you already use it to file your taxes, don’t forget to get some points and/or cash back!

Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards 1000 Points

If you enter TurboTax through the Southwest Rapid Rewards shopping portal, you can get 1000 points. Make sure you’re signed into your Southwest account first. I do this every year, and it’s the easiest 1000 points I earn.

Check Credit Card Offers

Before you pay for your version TurboTax, check to see if you have any offers with your credit cards. This year, I had a Chase Offer on my Chase Ink card for $10 back.

I added the offer to my card, shopped through the Southwest portal and used my Chase Ink credit card to pay. So in total, I’m getting 1000 points plus $10 cash back.

Other Deals

American, United, Delta and Alaska Airlines also have TurboTax incentives in their shopping portals. The miles aren’t as high as the Southwest offer, but you may find them more valuable depending on your home airport. In addition, most of the cashback or reward shopping portals (Rakutan, Ibotta, Swagbucks, etc.) also have TurboTax incentives.

Bottom Line

If you’re planning to use TurboTax to file your taxes this year, don’t forget to go through the proper channels and use the correct credit card to get some points and cash back. Why not?

PS–I got my 1000 points from Southwest the day after I filed. I received an email about my $10 from Chase about a week later.
