I’m not that old, but I couldn’t pass up this AARP membership Black Friday sale!

The joke when people get older is “So did you receive your AARP membership card yet?” Well, guess what? The minimum age to get an AARP membership is just 13 years old. And, an AARP membership unlocks travel discounts. I’ve actually been thinking about getting an AARP membership for a while now, but this Black Friday sale sealed the deal.

Pay $45 for a 5-year AARP membership, which is just $9 a year. Normally, you can get a membership for ~$12 a year.

But, you can stack the savings. I went into my Capital One mobile shopping portal and got a $30 promo for AARP:

You don’t have to have a Capital One card in order to get the Capital One shopping portal. The $30 will come back to me as a gift card.

So, that brought my 5-year membership down to just $15 total, or $3 a year.

Some folks report having a Chase offer for $8 off AARP. Neither my husband nor I were targeted for that. But, if you were, you could pay with that Chase card in the Capital One shopping portal.

Benefits of AARP Membership

Many miles and points hobbyists join AARP to get a discount on British Airways flights. But, AARP also offers discounts at select hotels and rental car companies.

An AARP card also gets you discounts at restaurants, including one of my family’s favorites, Outback Steakhouse.

Bottom Line

This is a great deal for a 5-year AARP membership. I told my husband about it, and he said, “You’re the one who’s gonna show your card at Outback!” Well ha, my membership comes with a free spouse membership card, too.
