    Given that absurd fuel surcharges have made use of Avios to redeem on BA all but uneconomic, and the anemic availability of awards on Qatar makes them nearly useless there too, I doubt that the next offer will be lower. They’d have to give me a lot more Avios to make it worth a credit pull and annual fee.

      @Mak Sorry, your comment originally went to spam for some reason. I definitely get what you are saying. Avios is a very tricky currency. Fuel surcharges definitely suck the “free” out of award redemptions. That said, I’ve had good success with Avios over the years, mostly towards domestic AA flights and Aer Lingus redemptions. Although the latter has been devalued recently. Still, it’s good for certain uses. I’m sitting on 250k Avios right now. While I’m not itching to accumulate more, I’m confident I’ll put them to good use eventually.
