Ever since Chase announced its 30% transfer bonus to British Airways, I can’t help myself. I’m looking at flight possibilities all the time. I’m a sucker for a good deal, even when it’s using miles and points.
British Airways Avios are very useful to use on partner airline nonstop flights. Personally, I’ve used BA Avios to book many flights on American Airlines.
While I don’t see a ton of availability for families in business class, I do see a lot of award space in Economy in both directions. Most of the flights I found had 7 Economy award seats available. Here are some great award deals I’m seeing out of DFW (my home airport) with British Airways Avios:
Iberia nonstop DFW to Madrid next Spring: 21,250 Avios or just 16,346 Chase Ultimate Rewards points with the transfer bonus. What a great way to get across the pond, regardless if Madrid is your final destination. Remember, you can transfer Avios between British Airways and Iberia if your accounts have been open for at least 90 days. I always like to compare the taxes and fees between Iberia and British Airways for each award.
I’ve also been exploring destinations for early January, since my kids don’t go back to school until January 10.
AA DFW to Maui: 20,750 Avios or 15,962 Chase Ultimate Rewards points with the transfer bonus. I’ve been to Hawaii 3 times, but never to Maui!
DFW to JFK: 11,000 Avios each way or 8462 Chase points with transfer bonus. Who doesn’t love a trip to NYC? We’ve never been there in winter.
DFW to LAS: 9000 Avios or 6923 Chase points using transfer bonus. I know this sounds weird, but I want to take my kids to Las Vegas. They would love the magic shows and Cirque shows there, as well as the roller coasters and a trip to Hoover Dam.
Dallas to Key West: I’ve never been to Key West! 9000 Avios or 6923 Chase points with transfer bonus.
I mentioned to my husband that I could take a quick trip to Maui at these prices. He gave me the side eye. Unfortunately, he is running short of PTO from work, and we have several other trips in the works already.
I’m trying to use this transfer bonus to get decent flights to Florida and Puerto Rico for trips we already have planned. So far, the award availability for our dates is not there right now. But, this transfer bonus lasts through the end of July. So there’s still hope.
Are you seeing great deals with this Chase British Airways transfer bonus? What are you tempted to book?

DFW gets decent Y award prices but the J/F tickets are astronomical to/from here.
@Hal True. My family flies on Economy most of the time, and I love to see these low award prices!
Great reminder to check BA vs Iberia, whose fees are more than twice as much for the same flight. Not sure why they’re so high out of DFW.
@Chris Yes, definitely. I don’t understand the rhyme or reason on these fees from DFW, but it is what it is.
