Will You Get Approved?

Capital One is notoriously picky about who they approve for new cards. They don’t like to approve folks with high credit scores who have had a lot of recent card approvals.

If you got the Venture X card within the last 6 months, unfortunately you’re not eligible for this offer.

Capital One Rules:

2 card max – You can have a maximum of 2 Capital One personal cards at any given time (excluding co-branded cards).

1/6 rule – You can only open 1 Capital One credit card every 6 months.

Welcome bonus eligibility –  the fine print says “Existing or previous Accountholders may not be eligible for this one-time bonus.”

Extra note: Unlike other banks that normally pull one credit bureau when doing their hard credit inquiry, Capital One will go through all 3 credit bureaus.

See all bank application rules here.

My Thoughts on Capital One Venture Rewards Card

I personally have this card in my wallet and I use it. It’s so easy because I don’t have to think about category earnings–everything is 2X miles. Redeeming miles for travel expenses is also very easy. I’m just beginning to utilize the transfer partners.

Since this card is easy to use and it has a relatively low annual fee, it’s a great card for miles and points beginners. Personally, I feel that Chase points are a little more useful, so I still recommend this other card for beginners first. But this is a great second credit card to get.

My wife got the Venture X earlier in 2022. I see where she can get a referral bonus of 25K for referring me for the Venture X, but I want her to get a bonus by referring me to just the Venture…….any insight if possible and how?

@Sara I’ve heard of people getting the bonus more than once (even while still owning the same card). The fine print is rather vague (it says MAY not be eligible). I’ll be interested to see some data points if folks are able to get the bonus again.
