Cruise Ship Runs Out of Food After Return of Self-Service Buffet: See this post on The Takeoff Nap. Remember, this is satire, people!
IHG One Rewards Is Here: IHG’s new loyalty program is now live. See this post on Miles to Memories for a breakdown of all the details. What am I excited about? The free breakfast for Platinum Diamond Elites.
Mask Mandate Extended Until May 3: In case you haven’t heard, the CDC extended the mask mandate on public transportation by another two weeks. Originally, the mandate was scheduled to expire on Monday. Is this the last extension we will see? Who knows.
Long Weekend in Paris: I was excited to read this post on Momma to Go about her long weekend in Paris. My family is going to Paris this summer, and I can’t wait!

Am I reading it wrong, isn’t the breakfast only available for Diamond Elites?
Nancy says
Ah yes, you are right! Dang it. I will fix the post to reflect that. Thank you.
Momma To Go says

I have a question about the new IHG rewards program that you might be able to help me with. In the past, I thought that if I found availability for an IHG property for 40k points or fewer then I’d be able to book that with my free night certificate. Now I’m doing a search for a particular date and location, and even though I’m finding many locations available for points (all happen to be under 40k points even though that doesn’t matter as much), I’m not seeing that the same properties are available with the certificate. Only a few of them are. Has this changed, am I doing something wrong, or is there a glitch? I figured I’d ask here first before I contact IHG about it, because the blog world seems to know more about things before CS agents. 🙂 Thanks!

@Marianne Unfortunately, in my experience, this has always been the case. I believe there is a cap on certificates by hotel, so there may be rooms on points available but not with certificates. This happened to me once and it was confusing. I recommend contacting IHG about it anyway and see if they can make an exception. It doesn’t hurt to ask.

Thank for this helpful answer. I guess I’ve been lucky before when the locations I’ve wanted have been available. My second choice is available for the date I’m looking for, so I’ll just take that for now and save asking IHG for an exception when it’s more important. Many thanks!
