Disney’s new Star Wars hotel/land cruise, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, officially opened earlier this week. I’ve read several reviews from media outlets that were lucky enough to be invited to a sneak peak of the experience.
The experience does look amazing. It’s like you’re on a cruise, but it’s in the Star Wars universe. Meals, entertainment, rides and character interaction are all included.
Still, I can’t help but circle back to the out-of-this-world price tag.
The Math for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
For the two-night adventure, the cost is around $6000 for a family of four. The price for my family of five starts at $7200. That price includes a lot of things:
- Two nights accommodations
- Entertainment/character interaction/role play
- 4 meals on board
- 1 meal at Disney Hollywood Studios
- Admission to Disney Hollywood Studios
- Lightning lane acces to rides in Galaxy’s Edge
- Valet parking
- Magic bands
But it’s worth repeating, the cost is at least $7200 for my family of five for a TWO DAY experience. Admittedly, we’ve spent that much money on a week-long cruise. And while that’s a lot of money for a 7-day vacation, at least that includes more food, more nights and more destinations.
As my son gears up for his senior year of high school in the fall, I can’t help but relate any big expense to his future college tuition bills. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser would cost as much or more than one entire semester of college tuition. For just TWO DAYS.
Read Reviews with Caution
Clearly, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is a cool experience. But, most of the reviews so far have been from people who were invited to cover the opening for free. It’s much easier to love something when it was free to you.
Have the recent reviews convinced you to splurge on this new Star Wars experience?

The novelty is the only reason to go for me, and I’m a huge Star Wars fan. Too expensive and doesn’t look that good. But, it is different. So if I had money to burn I would check it out.

@Ginger If I had money to burn I’d send my boys. But I would still skip it for me. I’d rather be on a sea cruise. 🙂

No freaking way. Full stop.

I’m very curious if Disney can maintain this pricing model. I imagine at first the Star Wars super-fans will flood the place. But after that?
