  • 2 Free Early Bird passes per year

  • 3000 anniversary points
  • 2X points on ride share and transit
  • 2X points on internet, phone and cable
  • 2X points on hotel and car rental partners
  • 2X points on Southwest purchases

The Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card ($99 annual fee) and the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Priority Card ($149 annual fee) have similar offers.

What the Big Deal about a Southwest Companion Pass?

A Southwest Companion Pass lets you add a designated companion with you on your flights for free! Whether you use points for your flight or cash, your companion only has to pay taxes (usually $5.60 on domestic flights). It’s a great deal for folks who travel with a spouse, child, or anyone!

Who Should Get This Card?

This deal is especially good for anyone who doesn’t have the ability to get a business card to add points towards a regular Companion Pass. This is the easiest way to get a Companion Pass with opening just one credit card.

If you do have a small business, I recommend opening the business version of the card and waiting for a different bonus on the personal card to combine for a traditional Companion Pass. A traditional Companion Pass lasts through the year in which you earn it plus the entire next year.
