Hyatt really knows how to tempt me. It keeps sending me reminder emails about the 2-for-1 nights on points at its Miraval Resorts through January 31:
If you’re not familiar with the Miraval brand, it’s an adults-only all-inclusive spa retreat resort. There are three locations: Miraval Arizona, Miraval Austin and Miraval Berkshires. The points price is quite steep: 45,000 World of Hyatt points for one person per night, 65,000 points for two people in the same room. Each person gets a $175 credit per night to use on the spa or other upcharge activities. The cash price runs $1000 or more per night for two people.
So, getting two nights for the price of one at this resort is a good deal. No, it’s actually a great deal! I’ve longed to stay here with my husband to get away from it all.
The Catch
Of course, there is a catch. A few catches, actually.
The promo is not valid on weekends. It’s also not valid from December 24-31. Since my husband doesn’t have any extra vacation days, he would not be able to go with me.
In all of these locations, the weather can be downright cold during this time of year. I can’t imagine staying at these resorts without relaxing by the pool. But when it’s 30 degrees outside? No, thanks, even if the pool is heated.
While the resort comes with a $175 per night credit per person, that might not stretch as far as you think. All of the massages cost more than that.
Passing on a Good Deal
While I could take advantage of this deal and go by myself, I’m choosing to pass. Hyatt has this deal for a reason–occupancy is low during these months.
I don’t want to get caught up with keeping up with the Joneses of the miles and points world. If the promotion isn’t right for me, I’ll pass. I have so many other good ideas on how to spend my Hyatt points!

We did BOGO Miraval deals in summer of 2020. After waiting for BOGO deal in 2021 that never come, we decided to visit in January of 2022. It might be cold, it might be pleasant, we’ll roll the dice. We like the retreat/ meditative atmosphere there and the ground is very pretty and relaxing to walk around.
Nancy says
@Agnes I’m glad you’re finding the deal useful! Which location do you visit?
projectx says
$1k a night… what do you get for spending that much money besides a nice room?
Nancy says
@projectx The price includes all gourmet meals, smoothies and a host of activities including exercise classes, psychics, astrologists, horseback riding, ropes course, hiking, etc. Some activities have a fee, so the $175 per night credit can go towards those class fees or spa treatments. I’m not sure if the experience would be a good fit for me, but I’ll take a spa treatment any day.

Thank you Nancy. I just got off the phone with Austin as I too keep getting those emails. Sigh. I’d like to be in the pool.
Nancy says
@Eronn Did you book a stay there?
Leana says
I wouldn’t do it either. Like you said, it’s discounted for a reason. There will be other sales, I’m sure.
Nancy says
@Leana Yes, sometimes there is a similar offer in the summer. I’d rather go when it’s too hot than when it’s too cold.
