One Week Left for Southwest 100k Offers

December 1, 2021 By Nancy 3 Comments

See our Advertiser Disclosure and Editorial Note here.

It’s December 1, and that means there is only one more week to get in on the 100k bonus offers on the Chase Southwest personal credit cards. Now is a great time to earn a Southwest Companion Pass for 2022/2023!

And some good news for seasoned veterans of this hobby: Data points indicate that some people are bypassing Chase’s 5/24 rule to get approved!

Card Details

Chase Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Plus ($69 annual fee)

Chase Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Premier ($99 annual fee)

Chase Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Priority ($149 annual fee)

Note: These are my affiliate links. You can only have one Southwest personal card. You cannot have earned a bonus from a personal Southwest card within the past 24 months. The Chase 5/24 rule may apply.

The bonus is a tiered bonus. Spend $2000 within the first three months to earn the first 50k points. Spend a total of $12k in the first year to earn the second 50k points for a total of 100k points. Offers end on 12/7/21.

How to Earn Southwest Companion Pass

If you earn 125,000 Southwest Rapid Rewards points in a calendar year, you earn a Southwest companion pass. This coveted pass allows you to bring along a companion with you on your flights for free (just pay taxes). This works on paid flights and flights you book on points.

So, if you earn the bonus on one of these cards, you would only need 13,000 additional points to earn that pass. You could earn those miles from additional credit card spending, by adding a Southwest business card or by flying on Southwest.

If you apply for one of these cards, make sure you wait until early January to complete the minimum spend for the first 50k points so that all of your points fall into 2022. The companion pass is valid through the year in which you earn it plus the entire next year.

Why I Love Southwest

My family has used Southwest Rapid Rewards points to fly to Florida, Puerto Vallarta, New York and other places many times. I love flying on Southwest because the points are so easy to us. There are no blackout dates, and the points cost is based on the ticket’s cash price. I’ve found some amazing deals during off-peak travel times.

Southwest redeposits your points into your account if you cancel your flight. You can also get a points refund if the cost of your flight goes down.

Are you planning to jump on this offer before it expires on 12/7/21?

So I just received my 50000 this week so they will be erased and not count towards my companion pass?

So I got my points too fast in December so my 50000 that I just received will not count towards my companion pass because I got them this year?

@Evelyn If your 50k points showed up on your December statement then yes, unfortunately they won’t count towards your 2022 companion pass. If, however, you just completed your $2k spending in the past few days, your 50k points might show up on your January statement, which would work for your companion pass.
