My family loves to cruise. I’ve sailed on 10 cruises, and I have two more scheduled. Most of our cruises have been “normal” cruises with no special theme. However, on Disney Cruise Line my family has experienced Halloween, Christmas and Star Wars themed cruises. The theming adds an extra layer of activities and fun, in my opinion.
Those themes are just a drop in the bucket of the themed cruises available on multiple lines. Check out these upcoming themed cruises for 2022.
“The Love Boat” Cruise: Remember that TV show from the ’80s? I used to watch it as a kid. Princess Cruises just announced a themed cruise that features the cast of the iconic tv series. The 7-night cruise leaves from Los Angeles and travels to the Mexican Riviera on February 26-March 5, 2022. Meet the actors who played Vicki Stubing, Cruise Director Julie McCoy, Doc, Isaac and Gopher. Activities include a cast Q&A, trivia and themed menus. See here for more details.
The 80s Cruise: I listen to the 80s channel on Sirius XM radio, so I frequently hear this cruise advertised. Hosted by the original MTV Vjs, this cruise features concerts by 38 special, Berlin, Belinda Carlisle and more. The 80s Cruise sails on Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas march 5-12, 2022.
The Beach Boys Good Vibrations Cruise: The Monkees and the Temptations join the Beach Boys on the Norwegian Pearl from March 25-28, 2022. Mark McGrath hosts this 3-night cruise that includes concerts, photos with the bands and more. See all the details here.
Kesha’s Weird and Wonderful Rainbow Ride 2: Kesha’s cruise sails on the Norwegian Pearl on April 1-5, 2022.
Star Trek–The Cruise V: Join George Takei and many other stars from the Star Trek story on this 7-night cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas. This special themed sailing happens February 26-March 5, 2022.
Big Nude Boat: Yep, it’s exactly how it sounds. Cruise naked on the Carnival Pride February 13-27 out of Tampa. Ages 18+.
In addition to these star-studded themed cruises, a variety of more low-key themed cruises are available. There are specialty cruises that include scrapbooking, knitting, quilting…you name it, and it probably exists!
Of course, these themed cruises come with a premium price. But if you’re really into it, the theme adds an extra wow factor to the cruising experience.
Have you sailed on a themed cruise? Which one appeals to you the most? (Personally, I’d love to try the 80s cruise!)

I always wanted to try a good themed cruise, but was never able to find out about one AHEAD of time! how on earth did you find these?!

@Sara I saw The Love Boat cruise on the news lately, so it prompted me to look into more. Many of these themed cruises are recurring every year, so if you miss it for 2022 there’s always the next year.
