Cruising has resumed in the U.S., at least partly. Royal Caribbean started sailing out of Florida with new health guidelines and protocols that include different rules for unvaccinated guests. Carnival started sailing out of Florida and Texas with fully vaccinated passengers.
However, Disney Cruise Line has remained quiet on its plans to restart cruising in the U.S. DCL has not canceled sailings in August. But, the company has not yet communicated guidelines for these upcoming sailings. Guests scheduled to leave in a month still don’t know if vaccines are required, if unvaccinated people will have different requirements, if the kids clubs will be open, etc.
I’m booked on the Disney Dream in 2 1/2 months. The uncertainty is killing me. I can’t imagine how the people with August bookings feel.
UK Staycations with Disney Magic at Sea
The Disney Magic just started sailing out of the UK on 2-4 night cruises. I’m starting to see vlogs trickle in from guests on board. Things are quite a bit different than during pre-Covid times. Changes include:
- Virtual queue reservations for pool
- Socially-distant character greetings
- No sail-away party
- No chocolates on the pillow at night (what?!?!?!?!?)
Of course, the rules could be completely different for sailings from the U.S. if and when they finally do start.
I sincerely hope that DCL makes some announcements soon. Like tomorrow. It would be nice to see the new protocols and determine if it’s still worth it to sail in the near future. People need to book flights and make backup plans. For those leaving in August, it’s getting down to the wire.
C’mon, DCL! Give us some information!

Hang on… they have scheduled sailings for August, but still haven’t posted any guidelines/requirements? That’s absurd!

@projectx Exactly!

The rules for Florida sailings are specific in that they can ask you to be vaccinated but can’t require it. Because of that legal limit they are making it very difficult for those that aren’t vaccinated or refuse to show proof. Extra testing, restricted areas of the ship, etc. Disney seems to be in no hurry return to sailing.
