Our Trip to See Simone Biles Do Her Triple-Double is Back On!

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you may remember that back in 2019 I booked a trip for my daughter and I to see the U.S. Gymnastics Olympic Trials. The event was to be held in St. Louis in June 2020. I booked a room using Hyatt points, and I was looking forward to exploring a new city with my kid.

Obviously, Covid put a wrench in our plans. The Olympics were pushed out a year, and the Olympic Trials were postponed. I cancelled our trip to St. Louis.

Of course, I had the option to reschedule for this summer. However, we had to reschedule two other trips from last summer. On top of that, we had already planned to send our kids to summer camp this summer. We couldn’t squeeze in the trip to St. Louis.

My daughter wasn’t too disappointed. She said she was happy to watch Simone Biles on tv.

How a Facebook Ad Changed Our Plans

The other night, I was scrolling through Facebook when an ad caught my eye. It was from a local gymnastics gym advertising a discount code for tickets to this year’s U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas. The location is about an hour away from our house, and we will actually be in town that week! I had forgotten that the event was to be held in Ft. Worth last year, but we were scheduled to be in Florida at the same time, which is why we made plans to travel to St. Louis for the Olympic Trials.

Simone Biles is currently planning on competing in this event. Seeing her perform her routines in person will be amazing!

I purchased tickets for the Women’s Finals. Since the event takes place in the evening, I decided to make a hotel reservation for one night in Ft. Worth. My Hilton points came in handy to book a hotel downtown.

Our one-night adventure isn’t the same as traveling to St. Louis, but we’re excited nonetheless. Our summer is packed!
