Just as Universal Orlando announced lifting mask requirements for outdoors, Disney World followed suit with its own announcement this evening.
Starting Saturday, May 15, 2021, guests will no longer be required to wear face masks outdoors at Disney World. The theme park giant just updated its website with new guidelines tonight.
Guests will still be required to continue to wear face masks outside for entry into the park and on ride queues. Disney posted this helpful chart to clarify when and where face masks are required:
I’m not at all surprised by this announcement, especially after Universal made the first move. I just hope this doesn’t increase the crowds too much during my visit this summer. 🙂

I actually don’t think the policy will be that much more difficult for Disney to monitor. There will likely be a cast member at the end of each queue who will instruct people to mask up.

Right, this policy of “you have to wear masks here, but not there” will be MUCH clearer and easier to enforce than just saying wear masks everywhere :eyeroll:
At the very least, masks in public areas should continue to be mandated until 6 weeks after kids (including those under 12) have been eligible to get the vaccine. After that, anyone unvaccinated is on their own – but it doesn’t make any sense to confuse the mask issue while a large portion of the population isn’t even eligible for a vaccine yet, and won’t be until sometime in the fall.

Exactly!

What’s so hard about this? Masks are not required while walking around the park. Otherwise, whether in line, on a ride, theater, or restaurant, mask up.
If you don’t like it, don’t go there.
