My husband recently transferred World of Hyatt points from his account to my account. Why would we do this? After all, he could just use his points to book a stay in my name.
We transferred his points to my account because he only had 17,000 points, which was not enough for a stay at the hotel I wanted to book. But if I combined his points with mine, I would have enough points to book another full night on my multi-day trip.
Another reason people might want to transfer points to another member is to use the Guest of Honor privileges that Globalist members have. Just be sure you really know the person you are trusting with your points.
The Process to Transfer Hyatt Points
It’s actually very easy to transfer World of Hyatt points to another member, although it’s not instant. Simply fill out the Point Combining Request form. There are no stipulations that the giver or receiver is a family member or someone who lives at the same address.
However, a person can only give or receive points once every 30 days. And, the points may only be transferred for the purpose of reward redemption (although I’m not sure Hyatt tracks that).
Both parties must sign the form. Once complete, you can scan it and email it to Hyatt or send it via snail mail. I used my phone’s Note’s app to scan the document, and then I emailed it to Hyatt.
I emailed the request on Friday morning. Later that same day, I received a reply from Hyatt stating that my husband’s phone number did not match the phone number in his account. Apparently I listed his home number instead of his cell number. D’oh!
I corrected this info on Saturday and re-sent the document. On Sunday morning, I received an email that the points transfer was completely. Done!
Readers, have you transferred or received World of Hyatt points from another member to book a stay?
