Breaking news: Royal Caribbean is returning to California after a 10-year break!
Earlier today, Royal Caribbean announced that Navigator of the Seas will begin sailing 3- to 7- night cruises from San Pedro port near Los Angeles. Cruises will begin in Summer 2022 and last until at least Spring 2023. Itineraries will be available to book later this month.
Ports of call include Ensenada, Catalina Island, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan.
Navigator of the Seas just received a “Royal Amplification” in 2019. The ship now has water slides and updated indoor venues.
Cruise lines pulled out of Los Angeles when violence started escalating in the Mexican ports. Carnival Cruise Line continued cruising out of Long Beach, but many residents chose to fly to Florida to cruise on other lines.
I actually sailed on Royal Caribbean on a 3-night cruise when I lived in the Los Angeles area. It was my very first cruise. While I enjoyed it, I wasn’t quite sold on cruising until I experienced a Disney cruise with my family. Now, I have 10 cruises under my belt with two more scheduled. Cruising remains one of my favorite types of family travel.
