Will “A Touch of Disney” Be Worth the $75+ Ticket?

Disneyland Resort in California has been closed for almost a year now due to the pandemic. Die-hard Disneyland fans are chomping at the bit to get back in the parks.

Soon, fans will get that chance. Well, sort-of. “A Touch of Disney” is coming as a special ticketed event to Disney California Adventure Park. This is a chance for guests to experience Disney, but without rides.

Wait, without rides? Yes, without rides. And without shows. Hmmmm…..

“A Touch of Disney” Details

This special event runs Thursdays through Mondays March 18-April 5, 2021 from noon to 8:00 p.m. Tickets go on sale online starting March 4, 2021.

The experience will commemorate Disney California Adventure Park’s 20th anniversary and put 1000 employees back to work.

Ticket prices start at $75 for ages 3 and up and include:

  • Parking
  • $25 Touch of Disney dining card good for food and non-alcoholic drinks
  • Unlimited digital downloads from Disney PhotoPass

During the event, guests can eat, shop and take advantage of special photo ops. Disney characters will also be making surprise visits from a safe distance.

Visitors will be required to go through temperature and security screenings. Face coverings are required for everyone age 2 and up.

Worth It?

In my opinion, $75 is a steep price to enter the park with no rides. That’s like 60%-70% the price of a “normal” ticket that includes rides, shows and fireworks. Of course, it does include $25 worth of food, so the net price is really $50 with Mickey Mouse math.

Whether it’s worth the price really depends on what you like to do at Disney. Some folks are not big on rides and really enjoy the characters, shopping and food. And I’m sure some fans are missing Disney enough to pay the entrance fee to satisfy their Disney craving.

For sure, I wouldn’t travel to California just for this event. But if I lived locally, I may be just desperate enough for it.

Anyone planning on attending?

I love Disney but… $75 for the right to shop and purchase overpriced food? LOL. An old saying comes to mind… a fool and his money are soon parted.
