Alaska Airlines 50k Bonus with Low Spending Requirement

February 11, 2021 By Nancy Leave a Comment

See our Advertiser Disclosure here.

The Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card from Bank of America has a new offer: 50k bonus miles after spending just $2000 in the first 90 days. The $75 annual fee is not waived. This is a non-affiliate link.

Normally, the bonus on this card is 30,000 miles, but we’ve seen offers at 40k and even 65k but with higher spending requirements. In fact, there is currently a 65k total offer (non-affiliate link here) which has 40k after spending $2000 in the first 90 days and an additional 25k after spending a total of $8000 in the first 6 months).

Why Alaska Airlines Miles?

Alaska miles are valuable in the travel community. You can redeem as few as 5000 miles for a domestic flight on Alaska Airlines. And, with the credit card you can also get a companion fare on Alaska flights for $121.

Alaska has a host of airline partners that you can use to redeem you’re miles. Some of these redemptions cost fewer miles than using partner miles. See this post for more info. Later this year, Alaska will officially join the oneworld alliance.

For my family, Alaska miles will be useful to use on American Airlines for a trip to Europe we have planned for 2022.

BoA Application Rules

To be approved for a new card by Bank of America, you must be aware of the bank’s guidelines. You won’t be approved if you’ve opened 3 or more new cards in the past 12 months from any bank (or 7 or more cards if you’re a BoA deposit customer).

BoA will only approve a maximum of 2 new cards every 2 months, 3 cards per rolling 12 months and 4 cards for rolling 24 months. Five personal cards is the maximum you can have from BoA. Finally, you cannot get the card if you’ve owned it within the past 24 months.

Success X2

This morning, I applied for the 50k offer. I was approved! My husband applied for the 65k offer and was also approved. Yippee! We have never owned the BoA Alaska Airlines card before.

Readers, do you plan to apply for this card?
