Travel is a real hot button right now. There are those who believe nobody should be traveling anywhere right now. On the flip side, there are others who haven’t stopped traveling since the pandemic started. And in between those two extremes, some of us just want to get a change of scenery while trying to minimize our risk of catching and spreading the virus.
While we can’t completely eliminate the risk of getting Covid19 any time we step out of our house, some types of travel are clearly lower risk than others. If you are searching for lower-risk travel, here are some Spring Break ideas to consider.
Camping isn’t really my thing, but many of my friends enjoy it. Pack your meals, and reserve your site in advance to secure your favorite distanced destination.
Not into tent camping? Rent an RV! Some campgrounds have RV rentals already hooked up. Jellystone Park close to DFW offers RV rentals. Also see my post about renting an RV at Disney’s Fort Wilderness.
Most cabins in the mountains make it easy to social distance. Find one with views, nearby hiking and a hot tub. My family has enjoyed cabin rentals near Manitou Springs in Colorado and in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
Beach Rental House
Nothing says “spring break” quite like a trip to the beach. This year, why not splurge on a house rental in a less-populous beach area? That’s exactly what my family is doing. We are renting a house on an island off the coast of Florida that only has 300 houses on it. Our house has its own pool, and we are steps from the beach. We will be bringing groceries to eat meals in the home. I can’t wait!
Before you choose a beach house rental, read reviews to make sure the area won’t be overrun by spring breakers. Texans, check out some of these less-crowded beaches in Texas.
Destination Rental House Anywhere
If a vacation rental home has neat features and amenities, it doesn’t matter where it’s located. For example, last summer my family rented a home on a ranch in the middle of nowhere. We had a great time in the private pool! Walking around the property and being somewhere different was a great getaway.
Are you planning a lower-risk spring break trip this year?
