Disneyland Steps Up to Become Super POD Vaccination Site

California residents may be visiting Disneyland earlier than they previously imagined, although not for the purpose of going on rides. According to multiple news sources, Disneyland just stepped up to become a Super Point-of-Dispensing (POD) site for the Covid vaccination.

Officials hope to open the site for vaccinations later this week. Disneyland is (or maybe was?) the county’s largest employer, and this is the first Super POD location to open in Orange County.

California, and particularly the Los Angeles area, have been hit hard by Covid in recent months. Currently, the vaccination is only available to those in the 1a priority category.

Disneyland in California has been closed since March. However, shops and takeout restaurants have been open in Downtown Disney and in a section of California Adventure. Out of all the Disney parks around the world, this one has been closed for the longest amount of time.

The fact that Disneyland is turning into a Super POD site confirms in my mind that it has no plans to open any time soon. Although Disney World in Florida reopened in July, the government in California has been more strict with reopening guidelines.

My county in Texas currently has no vaccine hubs. It seems that there is no strategy and that it’s every man for himself when it comes to finding the vaccine. I hope that changes soon. I’m looking forward to getting the vaccine soon that my family can resume our favorite hobby, which of course is traveling!
