Using my IHG Free Night Cert for Pre-cruise Stay Near the Beach

In a year when I’m not doing much travel, I’m super excited to book trips for next year. Assuming the cruise industry gets back on its feet next year, I have a short 4-night cruise booked with my daughter for her birthday next fall. Since my IHG card anniversary just happened, I decided to use my free night to book a pre-cruise hotel stay.

Choosing the Hotel

Picking the hotel to use for our pre-cruise stay was easy because I’ve had my eye on a certain property for years: Holiday Inn Club Vacations Cape Canaveral Beach Resort. This resort was formerly known as the Ron Jon resort until IHG took it over.

The resort is located very close to the cruise terminal and next to Jetty Park Beach. This is the beach/campground where people stand and wave to the cruise ships when they leave Port Canaveral. I’ve always wanted to be in that spot!

My family has sailed out of Port Canaveral half a dozen times, but we’ve always stayed at Disney World or Hyatt Regency MCO prior to embarkation. Since my family will be visiting the parks next summer, I decided this is a great time to stay near the port and experience the beach prior to sailing.

Holiday Inn Club Vacations Cape Canaveral has a lazy river, water slide, movie theatre and miniature golf course. It’s not a super fancy resort, but my daughter will love it. I’m combining my free night from the Chase IHG card (affiliate link) with my husband’s free night from his card to enjoy the location for two nights before our cruise. Can’t wait for 2021!

Are you making plans in 2021 for your credit card hotel free nights?
