Summer Travel Flashback: Alaska Cruise

Like many of you, I am longing for adventurous travel to return. With all of our canceled trips this summer, I have been wistfully looking back at our past summer trips. My family has had some incredible summer adventures! Over the next several weeks, I will highlight some of our favorite epic trips.

Vancouver, British Columbia and Disney Cruise to Alaska: June 2017

I can’t believe this trip happened just three years ago! It seems longer to me, actually. We used miles and points for flights and pre-cruise hotel, but we had to save up for years to afford the Disney Cruise to Alaska. It was totally worth it!

Vancouver

We had five days in Vancouver before we boarded our cruise. Vancouver was a great adventure by itself!

We took the Sea to Sky tour on our first full day in Vancouver. It did not disappoint!

First, we took the Sea to Sky gondola in Squamish where we had spectacular views! We stopped in the beautiful town of Horseshoe Bay, and toured a mine on the way back to Vancouver.

Next, we visited Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. I was freaked out by the heights! We also enjoyed a gondola ride to the top of Grouse Mountain and a whale watching tour.

I would visit Vancouver again in a heartbeat!

Disney Cruise to Alaska

I had been dreaming about an Alaskan cruise for years. After going on several Disney Cruises to the Caribbean, the Alaskan cruise was a great change of scenery!

Instead of wide open seas, we saw land on both sides of the ship for most of the cruise. When we sailed down Endicott Arm fjord, the water was still and green. I was continually amazed!

In Skagway, we visited a summer dog sled camp. We learned so much about winter dog racing, and we got to cuddle some pups.

In Juneau, we visited Mendenhall Glacier. Even though it was cold and rainy, it was a great day.

In Ketchikan, we enjoyed beautiful weather and a duck boat tour. What a cute town!
