20 Ways to Spot an American Tourist, Crappy Carnival Cruise, Southwest Bullies Websites and More

December 1, 2019 By Nancy 2 Comments

Southwest Bullies Websites: Check out this interesting post from Gary on View from the Wing. I’ve always wondered why there isn’t an easier way to check if your SW fare went down and why there isn’t an automatic way to check you in at 24 hours prior to your flight.

Redeem Hilton Honors Points for Lyft Rides: This post from Pointshogger is about using Hilton Honors points for Lyft rides. It’s not a great deal, but sometimes it’s nice to put scraps of points to good use.

Hyatt Cracking Down on Club Lounge Abusers: Lucky from One Mile at a Time describes his recent experience with higher security at the club lounge at Grand Hyatt Tampa. I’ve been in a few crowded club lounges, and sometimes I’ve wondered if everyone was really supposed to be in there. I assume this extra security is only happening at certain locations.

Crappy Carnival Cruise Review: See this review of the Carnival Imagination on Renes Points. As long-time readers know, I love Disney Cruise Line and I’m beginning to explore Royal Caribbean, but I’ve wondered if I should try Carnival.

20 Ways to Spot and American Tourist: I loved reading this post on Your Mileage May Vary. When we were traveling in Russia, our silly smiles gave us away.

LOL @ the smiling. I still remember thinking from my trip to Moscow and Vladimir years ago that the Russia stereotype of “never smiling” is pretty accurate.

@Ian It’s very accurate! We talked to some Russians about it. They told us that Americans look goofy smiling and saying hi to people on the street. Coming from Texas where that is common courtesy, it was a shock. Some of the hotel workers humored us and smiled back.
