Currently on Royal Caribbean’s website, guests can book cruises through April 2021. Yesterday, Royal Caribbean announced when the remainder of 2021 and early 2022 cruises will come online:
- Week of October 28, 2019: Alaska & Hawaii
- Week of November 4, 2019: 7+ Night Caribbean
- Week of November 11, 2019: Europe & Dubai
- Week of November 18, 2019: Short Caribbean
- Week of December 2, 2019: Northeast, Canada & Bermuda
- Week of December 9, 2019: TBA
While we don’t know exact dates, many cruisers are excited about the possibility of booking the new ship that will be ready in spring 2021. This 5thOasis-class ship started construction earlier this year.
In addition, many Texans are excitedly looking forward to the completion of a new $100 million Royal Caribbean cruise terminal in Galveston. This new terminal is expected to be complete in Fall of 2021. Will Texas finally get an Oasis-class ship in Galveston? I hope so!
Pros and Cons of Booking Very Early
If you book early, you usually get the cheapest price. Despite promos that come and go, the lowest prices are usually shortly after schedules are released. You also have the greatest choice of available staterooms across all room categories.
Of course, booking early has its drawbacks. Your cruise may become chartered by a group, forcing you to choose another day. Or more likely, your plans will change due to school or work commitments.
If you plan to book a cruise this fall for 2021 or early 2022, make sure you choose the option for a refundable deposit. It is not the default on Royal Caribbean’s website, and you have to request it on one of the final checkout pages. The price of a cruise with a refundable deposit is slightly higher than the price you see initially.
I’m going to pay attention the week of November 4, 2019 for the 7-night Caribbean deployment schedule release. If an Oasis-class ship comes to Galveston, I’ll be tempted to book.
Is anyone else thinking about planning a cruise for 2021 or 2022?
