Priority Pass Lounge Review: Gameway in DFW Terminal B

June 10, 2019 By Nancy 5 Comments

At the beginning of my first trip of the summer last week, my kids and I had the opportunity to hang out in an airport lounge at DFW before our flight departed. Because of my Priority Pass membership included with my Amex Hilton Honors Ascend card, we could get free entry in any of the five participating DFW airport lounges.

Our choice was easy. We chose Gameway in Terminal B.

Note: Other credit cards that include Priority Pass lounge membership include the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Citi Prestige, Amex Hilton Honors Aspire, Amex Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant, Amex Platinum and U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve.

Location

Gameway has two locations at DFW. We chose the one in Terminal B because it was just one stop away on the Skylink from our flight’s departing gate in Terminal C.

Gameway

Gameway in DFW Terminal B is located just down the escalators from the Skylink. Since the Skylink runs every two minutes, we could get to the lounge and back in less than five minutes total.

Gameway

Check-in

There were only two people in the lounge when we checked in. I showed my Priority Pass card, and the employee assigned us four stations. We could use the lounge for up to two hours, although we only stayed for 45 minutes due to the timing of our flight.

Gameway

Seats and Games

We each had a leather chair, charging station and a TV full of games. Most of the games were geared to older teens and adults, although there was Minecraft, Fortnight and a Lego game.

Gameway

Food

Our admission with Priority Pass included one drink and two snacks. The drink and snack selection was fairly limited and was all junk food.

But nonetheless, we all took two snacks for our plane ride.

Overall Impressions

I expected the lounge to be bigger and to have restrooms. But, it was really just a small space. Gaming really isn’t my thing or my daughter’s thing, but my boys absolutely loved it. They are begging to come here again before our next flight out of DFW in a few weeks. Gameway definitely kept them entertained and happy before our flight.

Have you been to a Gameway lounge? What did you think?

Does this count as a “standard” lounge if one has priority pass through Amex? Wondering if we can still use benefits here after the August 1st change

@AOH That is a great question. I assumed it would still count as a lounge since it’s not a restaurant. However, Gary from View From the Wing assumes that Gameway won’t be eligible (see https://viewfromthewing.com/starting-august-1-u-s-american-express-issued-priority-pass-cards-will-no-longer-give-airport-restaurant-credit/). If you’re in the airport, I would give it a try.

My kids and I went to the one in Terminal E on Saturday since it was near our departure gate. Although that one has more seats (also out in the open beside gate E16), some of them were only set up as charging stations (only 2 USB ports, no outlet for larger devices like laptops). I mentioned Priority Pass and the attendant said we’d have to wait 15 minutes since there the PP allotment was full (there were still 3-4 seats available). Two folks left shortly afterwards so we checked in and got our drink and snacks then I took a charging seat while the kids took gaming seats. They had a good time for the hour we were there. I provided feedback about the outlet to the attendant and he mentioned that this was a prototype lounge and future lounges will have more features. Overall it was OK; it’s a good PP addition but I wouldn’t pay for it outright.

Thanks for your feedback on the one in Terminal E. I didn’t realize they had a Priority Pass limit. I probably wouldn’t pay cash for it either, unless we had a really long layover and I was desperate. But, it was nice to use as a “freebie”.
