Taco Bell Hotel, Miles for Student Loans, Race from NYC to DC and More

May 17, 2019 By Nancy Leave a Comment

Taco Bell Hotel in Palm Springs: Taco Bell is taking over a hotel in Palm Springs, California this summer. Reservations open in June for stays August 9 and later. The hotel will feature special menu items only available there. When I was a teenager and in my early 20s, I would have loved this! Also, who knew you can get married at a Taco Bell in Las Vegas?

IHG Launches New All Suites Hotel Brand: IHG is launching a new hotel brand called Atwell Suites. The brand is targeting an “upper-midscale” segment of business travelers. Since I have a big family, my ears perk up whenever I hear “all suites” hotel. The first Atwell Suites hotel will open in 2021. See this post from Miles to Memories for more details.

Earning Miles and Points for Paying Off Student Loans: Summer (Mommy Points) wrote an interesting piece about buying The Gift of College gift cards at grocery stores to pay off student loans and earn miles in the process. If you have student loans to pay off and you have a nearby grocery store that sells these, you could earn a decent chunk of miles and points. Why not?

Race from NYC to DC: I loved reading this post on TPG. Five people took different modes of transportation from Central Park in NYC to The White House in Washington, D.C. to see who would arrive first. Two took airplanes, two rode trains and one braved the Megabus. I was surprised there wasn’t more of a spread in their arrival times. This makes me more excited for my upcoming summer ride on Megabus.

Frontier Launches Friends Fly Free: Earlier this year, Frontier launched its Kids Fly Free deal. Now, it has a Friends Fly Free. Don’t get too excited, because it’s not nearly as useful as the Southwest companion pass. See this post from Doctor of Credit.

Finding Balance: Lucky from One Mile at a Time wrote this heartfelt post about something his family is going through. It reminded me of my dad a few years ago. Circumstances like this remind us what’s important in life. There are more important things than travel, miles and points.

Have a great weekend!
