There is always a lot happening in the miles and points travel world. Never a dull moment! Follow us on Facebook for the latest stories.
More Airlines Move to Dynamic Award Pricing: The biggest news over the past week is that United is moving to dynamic award ticket pricing (like Delta) for travel on November 15, 2019 and after. If you look on United’s website in the latter half of November and beyond, you will be able to see the variable prices in miles. Rumor is that American Airlines is right behind United and Delta and will announce variable award pricing soon. I plan to elaborate on this more next week.
JetBlue to Begin Flying to London: JetBlue announced it will fly to London from New York (JFK) and Boston starting sometime in 2021. Hopefully, the Mint class will be cheaper than business class on the legacy airlines. I am curious what the fares will be.
Amtrak Points Now Expire After 24 Months: If you collect Amtrak points, they now expire after 24 months instead of after 36 months. If you have points that expire soon and you don’t have any upcoming Amtrak activity, you can reset the clock by purchasing something through Amtrak’s shopping portal. H/T VFTW.
Hyatt Place Tokyo Bay Now Open for Bookings: Leana alerted me that Hyatt Place Tokyo Bay near Tokyo Disneyland is now open for bookings July 1 and later. The good news is that the hotel has family rooms that sleep five, with three twin beds and a double sofa bed. Also, the cash price of the rooms is very reasonable for Tokyo, starting in the low $100s and still less than $200 for a family room. The bad news is that the rooms available on points sleep only three people. Also, the hotel does not offer free breakfast or transportation to Tokyo Disneyland. It costs 15,000 points per night, which is surprising considering the centrally-located Hyatt Regency Tokyo is only 12,000 points.
Wyndham Sweet Spots: Now that the dust has settled on the Wyndham award changes, see this post from Points Adventure about some sweet spots.
Teen Travel Challenges: I can totally relate to this post by Dia about some new challenges for traveling with teens. My almost-15-year-old is pulled in many different directions right now, including school, sports and yes, girls. While he still really enjoys traveling, it’s no longer at the top of his agenda.
Have a great weekend!

Dia’s post is tough to think about. My kids are in that sweet spot age (9, 6, and 6), and all have the wanderlust gene… for now. Hopefully that doesn’t change!

@projectx Try not to worry about it. All kids are different! My oldest still loves to travel, but he feels like he’s missing out on stuff back home with his friends. Last year we were gone for 25 days in Florida…there’s no way I could get him to be happy about being gone that long this summer!
