IHG Started Variable Rewards Pricing: Based on these examples on Points Adventure, it appears that IHG has started variable rewards pricing. IHG said it would start it this year, but nothing formal has been announced. This isn’t good for travel during peak times.
United Using More Variable Award Pricing: Several blogs have reported that United is starting to use more variable pricing on award flights. Some shorter routes are as low as 5000 miles. However, variable pricing usually means other flights go up in miles. H/T Doctor of Credit.
Aeroplan 30% Bonus on Hotel Point Transfers: Via Running With Miles, Aeroplan is offering a 30% (or 35% if you’re targeted) bonus through hotel point transfers through April 22, 2019. Aeroplan (Air Canada) miles are useful for United award flights. For my upcoming trip to New Zealand, I transferred Amex Membership Rewards to Aeroplan to book a flight on United. If you are swimming in hotel points, this might be worth exploring.
