5 “Experience” Cyber Monday Deals Tempting Me

November 27, 2017 By Nancy 16 Comments

I am not on the hunt for specific gadgets during Cyber Monday sales. However, I’m always on the lookout for cool adventures and entertainment to give my family instead of adding more stuff to our already over-crowded house.

I have found a few great deals on experiences that are seriously tempting me. Some of these offers expire at the end of Cyber Monday, so I need to get serious if I’m going to jump on these offers.

Note: Before you bite on any of these Cyber Monday deals, check out sites like RetailMeNot to see if there are any deeper discounts available.

Medieval Times Dinner Show

Have you been to the Medieval Times dinner show? Yes, it’s cheesy, but it’s very entertaining.

I first went to a Medieval Times show in Orlando as a kid during a Disney World vacation, and it was quite a treat! I didn’t expect a to see horses galloping past our seats, and I had no idea that the performers would be so successful at pitting the audience against each other while we cheered for our own knight to win.

Medieval Times has 9 castles in the U.S. and Canada, mostly near tourist attractions. Since Dallas has one of those locations, my family went several years ago when we hosted my nieces for the week. My youngest was less than two years old so she was mainly running around the lobby while I chased her during the show. However, the rest of my family loved it and they have been asking to return.

Medieval Times in Dallas

Medieval Times has a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale that is specific for each location. For the Dallas location, the special is $37 per person with coupon code BFD17 (normal price is $61 for adults and $37 for kids in Dallas). However, I found that by using promo code ACVB3629, the kids tickets were reduced to $29.95.

Six Flags Season Passes

Most people know I’m a Disney Parks fan, but I’m not opposed to going to other local amusement parks. We have a Six Flags park about an hour from our home, and season passes through the Cyber Monday sale are only $68.99 each. That includes admission to both the amusement park and the water park plus free parking. Ummmm….that’s way less than just one day at Disney! See here for details for the Six Flags over Texas location.

Six Flags operates 13 amusement parks across North America. Visit your local park’s website to see its Cyber Monday deal.

Water Park Season Passes

So I’m going to be vague and secretive here since we haven’t told our kids the location where we are spending one month during the summer. But the water park in our temporary summer location has season passes on sale for $49.99. I’m trying to determine if we would use them enough during our one month there to make them worth the cost.

Cyber Monday is a great time to buy season passes for water parks for next season. A few local Dallas water parks (like NRH20 and Hawaiian Falls) have 2018 season passes on sale right now.

Omni Hotels

Omni Hotels and Resorts is offering special “Seasons of Savings” rates on Cyber Monday and through Nov 28.  Rates start at $99 and can be a great deal off regular rates of $300+.

There are three Omni hotels in my local area that I’ve been dying to try for a staycation. Omni hotels are especially appealing to me because of the Omni Kids Crew benefits. Kids receive a backpack full of activities upon check-in and a delivery of milk and cookies before bed time.

Norwegian Cruise Line

I’m a Disney Cruise Line girl at heart, but that doesn’t mean that other cruise lines don’t tempt me. My family actually had a cruise booked on Norwegian Cruise Line, but we opted to cancel it in favor of a land trip to New York City.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Cyber Monday deal is very tempting. For Oceanview and above cabins, you get 5 free benefits for booking the Cyber Monday deal: free unlimited open bar, free specialty dining, free shore excursions, free WiFi and free friends and family. Wowsa!

Don’t forget you can use miles and points to offset some of these purchases! With the Capital One Venture Rewards card (current sign-up bonus is worth $500!), you can erase anything coded as travel from your statement with your points. Omni Hotels and Norwegian Cruise Line purchases definitely qualify. See this post for more details.

These look great! I love good deals and experiences…I’ve been toying with doing more of these types of presents (and museum/field trips, etc) in stead of regular presents. Less stuff = cleaner house and happier family. 🙂

Which Omni hotels do you recommend here in the Dallas area for kids?

@Pam I actually have never stayed at an Omni, but they look really nice and great for kids. The Omni locations in Downtown Dallas and Downtown Fort Worth are in great locations. Plus have you seen the new Omni in Frisco that is attached to the Ford Star Center? The pool looks really nice.

Such fun ideas! And seriously some of my favorites. We took a Norwegian Cruise Lines Cruise to the Mexican riviera last November and it was amazing! And every time we visit my fam in California we always go to midieval Times.

I haven’t been to Medieval Times since I was little, but I loved it back then. I caught a flower from our knight and I thought I was hot stuff lol. I love the idea of shopping for experiences on Cyber Monday. I’ll have to check out some places close to us.

also speaking of experiences, we love going to Philly auto show. Tickets are half price today only. I scooped them up. Also viator sent me a promo code. 15 percent off a tour I’ve been eyeing in Banff. I booked yesterday so we are doing a tour of the icefields and lake louise!

@heathersfp We are really trying to spend money on experiences vs. stuff. It’s hard because many times people’s expectations of a gift are something tangible.

I like NCL. I think they deliver good value in cruising. I like the fact that their balcony staterooms are often priced quite reasonably. Of course, it depends on itinerary.
I really wanted to try DCL, but just can’t bring myself to spend so much $. I know many people are crazy about it, including you. But I’m just too cheap, I guess! 🙂

I sort of regret cancelling our NCL cruise. It was such a great price! One of these days we will try another line.

I bet your mom and kids would enjoy the Medieval Times show! It’s really fun.
