This is a quick update from my post from last Wednesday, Hyatt Has Ruined Me. In case you missed it, my family stayed at a Club Carlson property for the first time (on a cash rate). The Country Inn and Suites near the Denver airport had a lot of issues, especially with maintenance and cleanliness.
The next day, Club Carlson’s social media team reached out to me for more details. The team told me that they are sharing my post with management for improvements.
In addition, Club Carlson deposited extra points in my account so that I can give Club Carlson another chance, for free! I sure was not expecting that when I wrote that honest review, but I think it is a very generous gesture from Club Carlson. And, it’s clear the company takes feedback seriously.
I’m not sure which property we will try. I’d prefer to use the points on a trip we already have planned in the next year to 18 months.
The properties most likely to work with our current travel schedule are in Florida. We are tentatively planning to visit Universal Resort in the summer of 2018. We could use the points to stay nearby and drive to the parks.
There are several options in the Orlando area:
I’m sure we will also visit the beach while we’re in Florida. This Radisson Resort located near Cape Canaveral might be a good option. The pool is supposed to be excellent!
Or, we could try a property in Texas on a smaller road trip. Club Carlson has hotels in Houston, Corpus Christi, Austin and San Antonio. We could always stop over for a night or two before visiting family in the area.
If you have stayed at a Club Carlson property and loved it, please share your recommendations. Thanks!

I agree with Don about the Radisson Blu in Chicago. There is also a rooftop pool area that has a separate kids pool. It was a nice place to relax after a busy day. The Radisson Blu attached to the Mall of America pretty much has the best location ever! Both are 70,000 points/night. There is also a nice Country Inn and Suites across the street from the Mall of America. It has two pool areas and is only 38,000 points a night.

Thanks for your recommendations, Vicki! I would go back to Mall of America in a heartbeat. My kids and I had a blast there last summer!

Keep us posted where you stay. That was awfully nice that they want you to try out another property. I’m all about pools so my pick would be the Radisson at the Port, but then being that close to Cape Canaveral, I would want to go on a Disney cruise. Enjoy!

Radisson Blu in Chicago is nice and a great location. Also stayed at Radisson Melbourne Florida. It was nice

Agree on both + Orlando Celebration. Shuttles to theme parks, nice pools.

@Don I loved Radisson in Melbourne, but my husband wasn’t crazy about it. He prefers hotels on the opposite coast because the beaches are nicer. But I would love to go back. All oceanfront suites… How can you beat that? So what if decor is from the eighties?
