After our day in Singapore, our next destination was Chiang Mai, in Northern Thailand. However, since there were no nonstop flights from Singapore to Chiang Mai that fit our timetable, we opted to stay overnight in Bangkok before continuing our trip. Unlike many visitors to Thailand, I didn’t have much interest in spending time in Bangkok, so I opted for an overnight hotel near the airport before our morning flight.
Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport
I booked this hotel for 8000 World of Hyatt points (transferred from Bilt). The hotel is connected to the airport through an underground walkway and we just followed the sign. We did have the option of a free shuttle, but we decided to walk since it was only 10 minutes away:
Outside of hotel:
The lobby is atrium-style with rooms on both sides and several restaurants:
Beautiful orchids all around the hotel:
At check-in, once they saw I had Discoverist status (from the World of Hyatt credit card), staff members whisked us away to this lounge for a welcome drink:
That was the only time we got to use the lounge, but it was a nice touch.
Our room was large with two beds:
And a huge bathroom:
A gadget by the bed controlled everything:
The beds were comfortable (which is one thing I love about Hyatt properties). There is just one thing about the room I didn’t appreciate: The room had a window from the beds to the bathroom, which is funny to me (we closed the blinds, because who wants to see that?):
Our room had a view of the beautiful pool:
We didn’t have much time to swim, but the pool area was fantastic:
The hotel also had a large gym and spa, which we didn’t use.
In the morning, we grabbed a quick snack from the coffee bar in the lobby:
I would definitely stay here again on a layover in Bangkok. Can’t beat the convenience!
Coral Executive Lounge BKK Domestic Terminal
The next morning, we checked out the Coral Executive Lounge in the domestic terminal before our flight to Chiang Mai. I used my Priority Pass membership that comes with my Citi Strata Elite card.
This lounge was beautiful, with many seating options and plenty of hot and cold food options:
But my favorite thing about this lounge was the free 15-minute chair massage! I signed up at the front desk, and they gave me this number. Soon, a massage therapist came to our table and began a neck/back/arm massage.
This was just the first of many massages I would have on our adventures in Thailand. Thai massages tend to be a bit strong, so I used my translator app to communicate my wish for lighter pressure.

I sometimes have club lounge certificates. I would would be willing to offer one if available – for free of course if you find a suitable hotel – particularly in Asia.
Thank you, Christian!
I like the Hyatt BKK just fine but my wife really loves it. Lounge access helps a lot, as does the easy rail ride into town. Even though we’ve stayed at this hotel, the Grand Hyatt, and the Royal Orchid Sheraton – all in different districts – multiple times she wants to stay by the airport for our next couple of visits. I guess what I’d take from that is to try the club lounge in the future if possible.
@Christian I’m glad she likes it so much! Next time I’ll try to get lounge access.
