The Citi Premier Card now has the highest bonus ever, 80k points!
Details on Citi Premier 80k Offer
Spend $4000 in the first three months and get 80,000 Citi ThankYou points. The card has an annual fee of $95.
The bonus points are worth at least $800 in travel or gift cards through the Citi ThankYou portal. You can also transfer the points to airline partners like Air France, Avianca and JetBlue. See the complete list of transfer partners here.
The card earns 3X points at restaurants, supermarkets, gas stations, air travel and hotels. It has a $100 hotel credit every calendar year for a hotel stay of $500 or more booked through the portal. The Citi Premier Card has no foreign transaction fees.
Citi application rules: You cannot get the bonus if you’ve received the bonus on the Citi Rewards+, Citi ThankYou Preferred, Citi Prestige or Citi Premier in the past 24 months. You are also ineligible for the bonus if you’ve closed any of those cards within the past 24 months. Citi will only approve one card every 8 days or two cards every 65 days.
My husband and I both got Citi Premier cards a few years ago when the bonus was 60k. We combined our points and used them to book an all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta.
Who Should Consider Applying
If you don’t already have the Chase Sapphire Preferred card (currently 100k bonus), I recommend that card first. Chase Ultimate Rewards points have better transfer partners. See my post here.
But if you’ve already got that card, or you can’t apply for any more Chase cards at the moment, the Citi Premier is a great way to get more free travel.
We do receive commission on the Citi Premier card if you apply through our site. See this post for more details. See other hot credit card offers here.

@Tammie. I haven’t read any datapoints related to anything other than new credit card accounts.
Leana says
@Projectx Unfortunately, I have reasons to believe the rumor is correct. My husband has tried to apply for Citi Premier a few times in the last several months. Both denied. He only had two new accounts added in the previous 90 days. Citi is really tough these days, a complete opposite of what it used to be.

This offer will finally be enough to push me over the line. $800 is a strong offer (I have little to no use for their transfer partners).
I’ve read some datapoints recently that Citi is tightening up on approvals recently on this card. There’s some chatter that they like to see 90 days without any new accounts. I can’t verify how accurate this is but I’ll wait a few more weeks to apply since I just got a card in May.
Nancy says
@projectx I hope you’re approved. It is a strong offer and I would go for it myself if I were past the 24-month mark.
Tammie says
@projectx: does that rumor apply to credit cards or any loan? We’re refinancing our mortgage (closing on Monday) so our credit was checked a few weeks ago. We haven’t applied for any new credit cards in several years…only upgraded when offers were lucrative (basically with Amex!).
@nancy: I’m hoping to apply for this card and the chase sapphire preferred for both my husband and I. It would be amazing if we can both get both!!! I’ll be sure to use your link for citi!
Nancy says
@Tammie Good luck and thanks for your support! Fingers crossed you are approved.

I have had this card in the past and was able to use points to buy Disney World tickets.
Is this still an option? thanks.
Nancy says
@harv I believe it’s still an option. I haven’t seen anyone report that it’s no longer available.
