We may not be traveling now, but we will travel again soon. Even if you’re not planning to travel in the near future, it’s never a bad time to earn miles and points for free trips!
If you haven’t applied for a new credit card in a while, there are several good sign-up bonuses going on right now. Offers are subject to change. See this page for the latest offers. Before you apply for a new card, review the bank approval rules and restrictions here.
Chase Sapphire Preferred 60k
The Chase Sapphire Preferred is the card I always recommend to newbies since it’s so versatile. The sign-up bonus is currently 60,000 points after spending $4000 in the first three months.
The annual fee of $95 is not waived. But right now, Chase is offering a $50 grocery credit, which effectively reduces the annual fee to just $45.
The sign-up bonus is worth $750 in the Chase travel portal. You can also transfer the points to Southwest, United, Hyatt and more.
My husband and I have both had this card, and we’ve gotten great use out of the points.
American Express Gold 60k
The American Express Gold card currently has a bonus of 60,000 points after spending $4000 within the first 6 months. You can choose between a Gold or Rose Gold color.
The sign-up bonus is worth at least $700. You can use the Amex Membership Rewards points on travel, gift cards or with numerous transfer partners.
This card earns 4X on groceries and dining. The $250 annual fee is not waived, but the card comes with $240 in annual food credits (in the form of Uber/Uber Eats and Grubhub.
Citi Premier 60k
The Citi Premier card currently has a bonus of 60,000 Citi ThankYou points after spending $4000 within the first three months. The bonus is worth $725 in travel.
This card earns 3X points at restaurants, supermarkets, gas stations, air travel and hotels. The $95 annual fee is not waived.
Capital One Venture Rewards Card 60k
The Capital One Venture Rewards Card is definitely one of the favorite cards in my wallet. Everything earns 2X, and you can use the miles on anything that is coded travel. So easy!
The bonus is currently 60,000 miles after spending $3000 in the first 3 months. The $95 annual fee is not waived, but the card does have a $100 credit for TSA Precheck/Global Entry.
I love this card because I can use the miles for hotels that are not in traditional hotel brand rewards programs. I’ve used miles from this card for free nights at Great Wolf Lodge and campgrounds in New Zealand.
Amex Platinum 100k (or 125k Targeted)
The Amex Platinum (non-affiliate link) has a new offer of 100k bonus points after spending $5000 in the first six months. This is a great offer on this card. The card also comes with 10X points at gas stations and supermarkets for the first six months. The annual fee of $550 is not waived. The card comes with $15 in Uber credits a month, global lounge access, Marriott and Hilton Gold status and more. Some people are targeted for a bonus of 125k through the CardMatch tool.
Amex Blue Cash Preferred $300
Miles and points are great, but cash is king! The bonus on the Amex Blue Cash Preferred is now $300 after spending $3000 in the first 6 months. The annual fee is waived the first year.
This card earns 6% cash back at supermarkets and 3% at gas stations.
Amex Gold Business 70k
If you have a small business with some expenses coming up, the Amex Gold Business Card now has a 70,000-point bonus after spending $10,000 in the first 6 months.
The annual fee of $295 is offset by a $300 credit on shipping and advertising expenses. The card earns 4X points on the two categories your business spends the most on each month.
Citi Business AAdvantage Platinum Select Mastercard 65k
The Citi Business AAdvantage Platinum Select Mastercard offers 65,000 bonus miles after spending $4000 in the first three months. This is worth over $900 in flights on American Airlines.
The annual fee of $95 is waived the first year. The card comes with perks like free baggage and 25% off inflight purchases.
I had this card a few years ago and used the miles to help fly my family to Australia!
Chase Ink Business Cash and Chase Ink Business Unlimited (75k)
Don’t forget that the Chase Ink Business Cash and the Chase Ink Business Unlimited cards are still offering 75,000 bonus points! See my previous post here.
My Recent New Cards
I just got the Chase Ink Business Cash card a few months ago, and most recently my husband and I were approved for the BoA Alaska Airlines cards (see this post). We are hoping to use the miles to travel as a family of five to Europe in 2022!
Are you looking to add to your miles and points stash for future travel?

I understand the need to make some cash through affiliate links but I’m surprised you omitted other great offers you don’t get a kickback on. The Amex Plat 100k/10x bonus comes to mind.

@projectx I frequently include cards that are non-affiliate links on here (like my recent post about the BoA Alaska Airlines cards). I’ll add the Amex Platinum to this list (the non-affiliate higher-bonus links are mentioned on our page when you click for more info about the card https://travelfreely.net/miles-for-family/ ) Thanks! 🙂
