Several travel hacking/miles and points conferences are still to come in 2017. Have you thought about attending one?
Leana attended an FTU conference in Tampa a few years ago. You can read her take on attending conferences here. (Read the comment section for a few more perspectives).
You could hear unpublished content. Most conferences will not let you film the speakers due to content they want to stay unpublished.
To meet up with others as crazy as you. Where else can you be in a room with a few dozen or a few hundred other people as crazy about traveling and miles and points as you are?
If you’re low on inspiration/motivation. Maybe you’re in a slump on applying for new credit cards or planning a new trip. Being around passionate people is a sure way to get back in your groove.
To make contacts for networking. If you’re a writer, you can meet others and gain valuable advice.
Whether you are looking to travel far for a travel hacking conference or you’re just looking to stay local, here are three upcoming events in 2017.
FT4RL: May 6, 2017 in Orlando
Family Travel for Real Life, by Dia from The Deal Mommy, is geared toward families. The mission statement:
Travel with kids is not only possible, but necessary. By sharing the world with our children, we expand both their minds and our own, creating a lifetime’s worth of wonder that can come no other way.
The event is May 6 at Hyatt Place Orlando Airport. Tickets are only $70.
Speakers include Jason Steele from The Points Guy, Shawn Coomer from Miles to Memories, Ari Charlstein from AwardMagic, Julianna Barrett from TravelingInspired, and of course Dia Adams herself. See here for tickets, and read this blog post for more details.

Chicago Seminars: October 20-22 in Chicago
Now in its 8th year, this annual event was started by Rick and Howie from Frugal Travel Guy. This is one of the biggest miles and points conferences, with 400-500 people in attendance.
The cool thing about this event is that it raises money for charity. Last year, it raised over $15,000!
Registration is $105, which includes lunch and snacks on Saturday and Sunday. The event takes place at the Holiday Inn Elk Grove Village. Bring extra money for the charity raffle.
Many miles and points bloggers will be presenting, including:
Greg – Frequent Miler
René – RenésPoints
John – Laptoptravel
Nick – Frequent Miler
Stefan – Rapid Travel Chai
Dan – Points with a Crew
Shawn – Miles to Memories
Richard – Travel Hacking 101
Lee – BaldThoughts
Tiffany – One Mile at a Time
Dave – Bikeguy on FlyerTalk
Howie – AwardWallet
Angelia – Angelina Travels
Scott – Mile Value
Are you going?
I would love to attend one of these, especially FT4RL or the Chicago Seminars. I could talk about miles, points and travel plans to anyone who would listen. And truthfully, most of my in-real-life friends and family just don’t get it!
Unfortunately, I already have too many travel plans this year. I hope to attend my first conference next year.
Is anyone going to any of these travel hacking conferences? Have you been to one in the past? Please comment with your experiences.
