This is a quick post on some major hobby developments, in case you’ve missed them:
1) An interesting find by Scott from Milevalue blog. I admit, when I saw that Etihad program became a Citi Thank You transfer partner, I didn’t really pay much attention to it. But it rocks for flights on American Airlines! And through December 31st, you can get a 25% bonus on transfers if you have an eligible card like Citi Thank You Premier or Citi Prestige. You can read more on both here
Etihad chart currently mimics AAdvantage. So, basically, if you have flexibility, you can fly from US to South America for only 16K Citi Thank You points one-way and no fuel surcharges. This could be a decent option for flights to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and more. If you are AA hub-captive, definitely look into it. More details in Milevalue post This is a good one, for sure, but be aware that it takes 7 days for transfer to go through and Etihad chart can change without notice.
2) IHG came out with new Accelerate promo for 2016. Hotel stays have to occur between January 1st and April 30th. Offers are individualized as was the case in the past. Here is mine:
This is actually a decent offer, but I have too much planned already during winter and spring months. Plus, I’m busy doing “Priceless surprises” promo and filling out those darn cards. Boy, what a pain! I can only do 4 per day before my brain goes numb.
Anyway, check your offer just in case and read my post on current Accelerate promo which has links to other posts on this subject. Register for new Accelerate promo here IHG is extremely lucrative once you crack the code and learn to beat them at their own game. And that’s what travel hacking is all about, folks. […] not why I go after these deals. I was actually debating on whether I should participate in the current Accelerate promo. I could acquire around 40K points for $135 via mattress runs. That comes out to around 0.34 cents […]
